CASEY Kids Carnival attracted about 10,000 people on Saturday, making it one of the most exciting free children’s events in Victoria.
Despite the scorching weather, families flocked to the 10th annual Casey Kids Carnival at Berwick’s Old Cheese Factory.
City of Casey mayor Janet Halsall said the council was proud to present this event for children and families in Casey.
The day showcased a variety of activities for children of all ages.
Special guest star Dorothy the Dinosaur was a crowd-pleaser with the carnival favourites the animal farm, face painting and the Egyptian jumping castle.
There were also live performances by The Great Aussie Bush Show, 2007 Junior Casey Idol winner Dwayne D’Cruz, The Kazoos, Gee Wiz Kidz, and the Polygot Puppets.
Families enjoyed the children’s rides, roving entertainers, arts and crafts activities, workshops, safety information, and interactive activities such as the Lego play area.
“The day was filled with laughter and fun, and was truly a day for families to celebrate together,” Cr Halsall said.
Making its debut this year was the new Yellow Zone for infants, preschool-aged children and their parents.
The popular Yellow Zone featured activities, performances and information specifically targeted towards those age groups. The City of Casey has one of the largest populations of young people in Victoria, with nearly 10 per cent of its residents under the age of four.
Cr Halsall said the City of Casey was committed to supporting children and their families through events such as the Casey Kids Carnival.
“I am sure there are many Casey families who are already looking forward to next year’s carnival,” she said.
