BUSINESS in Casey is up for a boost with the Narre Warren Chamber of Commerce and Berwick Village Chamber of Commerce set to work together on the common issues facing the two shopping precincts.
The two groups will meet Casey Council later this month to discuss an array of topics facing both the Webb Street shopping strip and Berwick’s High Street area.
Narre Warren Chamber of Commerce president Bob Burns said it made sense for both groups to tackle similar issues together.
He said a single voice, representing all of Casey’s commerce groups, could have its advantages when working with the council.
“Any voice on the Berwick side of the camp is going to be very powerful and the same from our side at Narre Warren,” Mr Burns said.
He said there was also a possibility that the Cranbourne Chamber of Commerce could get involved.
“I think we can get some things rolling. A combination of the chambers could be very useful on occasions.
“I suggested we should include Cranbourne. The Cranbourne shopping area is different from us but they do have similar issues that we are facing.
“I really see the benefit of the three organisation getting together and learning from each other.
“We need to learn from the other two chambers and they can teach us some things,” Mr Burns said.
Berwick Village Chamber of Commerce president Harry Hutchinson said he was excited at the prospect of the joint movement.
“I think it’s an excellent idea because at the end of the day we all have some similar problems that we need to face,” Mr Hutchinson said.
He said if Cranbourne became involved the three groups would be representing a total of more than 300 traders and many more employees.
“It’s about time we all started working together and speak to Casey about our common issues,” Mr Hutchinson said.
