A new pavilion at George Wisken Memorial Oval and pavilion upgrades at Morning Mist Reserve and Frog Hollow Reserve will provide greatly improved amenities for Casey sports clubs.
City of Casey mayor Janet Halsall said: “The City of Casey recognises the importance of sporting facilities for our residents and the positive contribution this makes to the wellbeing of individuals and ultimately the whole community.
“The new and upgraded pavilions will ensure that the clubs are able to grow and prosper, catering for the changing needs of a growing city.”
The upgraded tennis pavilion at Morning Mist Reserve in Cranbourne South includes larger club rooms, new kitchen, refurbished toilets and showers and the addition of an accessible toilet. These improvements will greatly enhancing the capacity of the Cranbourne South Tennis to attract and retain new members and volunteers.
The Morning Mist Pavilion upgrade was made possible through a partnership with council and the State Government’s community facility funding program.
Council contributed $89,000 towards the project, the State Government contributed $50,000 and the Cranbourne South Tennis Club contributed $10,000.
The new pavilion at George Wisken Memorial Oval in Pearcedale consists of two changing rooms, toilets and showers, an accessible toilet, umpires’ changing rooms, canteen and storage area. The total cost of the new pavilion was more than $400,000.
A pavilion extension at Frog Hollow Reserve in Endeavour Hills will enable the Endeavour Hills Rugby Union Football Club to continue to grow and develop.
The original pavilion has been extended by an additional two changing rooms with associated amenities, an extended kitchen, first aid room, accessible toilet and additional storage.
The total cost of the extension was over $322,000.
“The new and upgraded pavilions will maximise the opportunities for community and sporting groups to use the facilities that council is extremely pleased to provide to the community,” Cr Halsall said.
