NERVES and excitement turned into an award winning performance for Brentwood Park Primary School aerobics students at the national championships in Brisbane last week.
The 12 girls from grades four, five and six at the Berwick school had the crowd on the edge of their seats at the event and finished in third and fifth place with their two separate teams.
The Adorable Ladybugs competed in the open A section and jumped, kicked, smiled and split to the music in a performance that resulted in them being placed third in Australia.
It was another majestic performance from the Dancing Dragonflies team in the dance section and the judges awarded the school fifth place for their efforts.
Aerobic coordinator Jo-anne Pearson said both teams had produced impressive displays at both the state and national championships and were rewarded for all their hard work.
“The girls were impressive and a credit to themselves and Brentwood Park Primary School and it was the best performance we had all ever watched,” Ms Pearson said.
“To make it to national level is an immense achievement and we were proud to be there and represent Brentwood Park and Victoria.
“The competition from the other states was of a very high standard and we put in our best performances, which is all we could do.”
