FORGET the socks, jocks and hankies – four local dads got the best present of all this Father’s Day with the birth of their children at Berwick’s Casey Hospital.
The proud dads were all delighted with the arrival of their sons and daughters, and said it was the best present they could ever have hoped for.
Berwick couple Beth and Justin Ritchie missed their family’s Father’s Day roast following the arrival of their first child, Lucas Jonothan Ritchie.
Ecstatic family members, however, did not want the pair to miss out on the delicious lunch and brought plates of food into the hospital along with some Father’s Day cards.
Berwick father Matthew Vaughan was given a shirt on Father’s Day but said no gift could top the arrival of his second child, Hannah Makayla.
Older brother Bailey, aged 14 months, and delighted mother Kylie English were also excited by Hannah’s early arrival – the newborn was due to arrive on 17 September.
“This was the best present I could possibly think of,” Mr Vaughan said.
After a prolonged labour, Cranbourne couple Shelly and Simon Bevan were delighted when Lexi Rae entered the world at 9.44pm on Father’s Day.
Sister Jaymi, 4, is also delighted by the arrival of her new playmate.
“It was the best Father’s Day,” Mr Bevan said.
Greg Stefanopoulos also decided to enter the world on Father’s Day, much to the delight of parents Vicki Janezic and Con Stefanopoulos of Noble Park.
The bouncing boy is a new brother to Mitchell, 9, and dad Con said he could not have had a better Father’s Day.
