STAFF at an Endeavour Hills pharmacy held a lunch for leukaemia last week to help raise funds for people living with the disease.
Pharmore Endeavour Hills hosted a World’s Largest Lunch last Friday with staff members bringing in plates of delicious food for the fund-raising event.
Customers were invited to enjoy a snack while donating a gold coin to the Leukaemia Foundation.
Retail coordinator Lisa Carver said the cause was very dear to staff members’ hearts and the fund-raising event had involved a strong team effort.
Ms Carver said many people had come in on their day off to ensure the fund-raiser was a huge success.
She said the pharmacy would definitely hold a similar fund-raising event again.
Staff member Linda Bugrer has battled bone cancer, undergoing a bone transplant and a year of chemotherapy.
Ms Carver said they were pleased that they had been able to raise $430 for a cause that had touched many of their lives.
“We wanted to do a fund-raiser for something that we truly believed in. We would absolutely do it again,” she said.
The lunch helped raise money for patients and families living with leukaemia, lymphomas, myeloma and related blood disorders.
The funds will help the Leukaemia Foundation provide patients and their families with personalised and practical support free of charge.
It will also fund cutting-edge research into better treatments and cures.
