THE Narre Warren North Guide Hall has received a funding boost to refurbish its building and remove asbestos.
On Monday Narre Warren North MP Luke Donnellan presented the Narre Warren North Guide Hall support group with $500 to help fund the refurbishment.
Bob Howard, a member of the support group, welcomed the donation and said the funds would greatly help with the renovations and asbestos removal at the A’Beckett Road hall.
“The overall project will cost $9000 as we need to remove the asbestos coating outside, reclad the walls and replace the roof.
“We have already removed the rotting stumps and replaced them with concrete ones,” he said. Mr Howard said because the hall and land was privately owned they could not qualify for state or council grants for refurbishment.
“We have so far received about $5900 in funding so we are still about $2300 short of our target.
“It is dangerous for children to be around asbestos and we want to get it fixed,” he said.
The guide hall committee has organised a trivia night to help fund the refurbishment on 9 September at 7.30pm at the hall.
Tickets are $10 and there are tables for six, eight and 10.
For tickets or further information contact Bob Howard, phone 9796 8474.
