THE mayor of Casey’s sister city Berwick Upon Tweed, Lance Robson, has presented the City of Casey with a painting of a historic English castle.
The painting featured Bamburgh Castle in Northumberland, the ancient capital of Northumbria, which was once the home of Lord and Lady Armstrong.
Cr Robson said it was a treasury of northern history.
Cr Robson made the presentation to Casey mayor Janet Halsall during a barbecue dinner held at the civic centre on Wednesday 13 February.
Cr Halsall said the painting would be framed and hung in the council chambers.
Casey Global Friendships and the Casey Council hosted four visitors from Berwick Upon Tweed to a barbecue dinner at the civic centre.
They were Cr Robson, mayoress Sandra Evans, deputy mayor Hazel Bettison and Frank Bettison, who were in Casey on a sister cities visit.
Cr Halsall extended a welcome to the visitors and also welcomed continuation of the links between the two cities.
Cr Robson said the visit was part of a trip that also involved a stop in Sri Lanka to visit villages that were hit by the tsunami and supported by fundraising in Berwick Upon Tweed.
