Charleys dream continues

Charleys Dream gets up on the outside to score a last-stride victory at Cranbourne last Wednesday. LOCALLY trained pacer Charleys Dream made a welcome return to the winners’ list when successful in the Malcolm Wells Accounting Solutions Pace at the Cranbourne Harness meeting last Wednesday.
Pearcedale trainer Bill Walker had the four-year-old son of Dream Away near his peak after three runs back from a spell and daughter Simone was able to dictate the terms of the race from outside the leader throughout to score by the barest of margins from Xenophon.
Charleys Dream has now recorded six wins and a further six placings from just 16 starts and looks to have a bright future as he makes his way through the grades on the country circuit.
Earlier in the night, Lara mentor Dean Braun was successful with a training double. The Gunstar was super impressive in winning the Wise Choice Catering Pace while three-year-old gelding Waiona made it back-to-back Cranbourne wins, having scored at the club’s windswept meeting on 2 April.
Cranbourne’s next feature meeting is its popular Girls Night Out program on Saturday 3 May, with plenty of entertainment both on and off the track for patrons to enjoy.
On stage activities in the ‘Girls Gallery’ on the night include a fashion show, ladies fitness demonstrations, a fashions on the field competition with generous prizes from Westfield Fountain Gate and other sponsors and a workout demonstration by The Pole Divas.
There will also be tarot card readings, beauty treatments and a number of market-style stalls, which will offer the opportunity for a little retail therapy in the lead-up to Mother’s Day.
The party continues after the last race, with an all-age disco kicking off at 10.30pm.
