Chill out on a hot line-up

The Waifs will perform at the Chill Island music festival in March. The Waifs will perform at the Chill Island music festival in March.

ORGANISERS of the Chill Island music festival are predicting a sell-out crowd for the event next month.
About 5000 people are expected to flock to the scenic Phillip Island Nature Park to see The John Butler Trio, The Waifs, Archie Roach and Shane Howard, San Lazaro, Dan Sultan, White Summer and more.
Festival director Justin Stanford said this year’s event was shaping up as the biggest and best so far.
“We just want to make sure we do a great event for the 5000-odd people that turn up,” Mr Stanford said.
The John Butler Trio, fresh from winning two major accolades at the 21st ARIA awards, will headline the gig.
“I think it is great value for the customer. If you went to see John Butler Trio or The Waifs by themselves it would cost you the same amount as a ticket to the festival.
“And it’s not just about the acts. We have market stalls and 10 different food outlets,” he said.
Chill Island will be held at the Phillip Island Nature Park, Churchill Island, on Sunday 3 February from noon to 8pm.
Tickets are $69.95 for adults and $49.95 concession, plus a booking fee, and youngsters under 12 are admitted free.
