Chris Hohmann has an appetite to succeed in the hospitality industry after his recent award-winning cooking performance.

A NARRE Warren chef is slicing and dicing his way to the top of the food industry chain.
Chris Hohmann was part of a winning team that won gold in the prestigious VIC TAFE Cookery Challenge held in Melbourne recently.
The four students were required to cook a three-course meal under time and competition conditions and excelled in the pressure cooker-type environment.
The award is highly spoken of in the hospitality industry and is regarded as one of Victoria’s most competitive and inclusive student cookery competitions.
Mr Hohmann has been studying for a Certificate III in Hospitality at Chisholm TAFE in Dandenong and will graduate from the course in December.
“We trained a lot for the competition and we were all thrilled with our results,” Mr Hohmann said.
The 20-year-old’s cooking spark was first ignited during a casual job as a teenager at a restaurant in Berwick.
“I started washing dishes at Shanikas when I was in year 10 and I wanted to get into cooking ever since then,” Mr Hohmann said.
The self-confessed sweet tooth hopes to one day open a cafe with his sister and focus on serving up tasty dessert treats.
“My sister is a waitress so it would be great to do that together,” he said.
Mr Hohmann is also aware of the potential travel opportunities that can go along with a cooking qualification and has his eyes set on some of the culinary delights of Europe.
“I would also like to travel one day. Through Germany and Holland would be great,” he said.
But for now the award-winning chef will concentrate on finishing his course and finetuning his cooking skills.
