A NEW and improved Doveton Pool in the Park will be the place to be during the coming summer months.
Youngsters in Casey are expected to flock to the complex to check out the new water-efficient Splash Zone set-up.
The final touches on the Splash Zone were recently completed with a total of $750,000 spent on various other upgrades at the Kidds Road centre.
Casey mayor Colin Butler said the improvements to the Pool in the Park would prove a hit.
“The new exciting Splash Zone water playground has 11 new features including tipping buckets, ground bubblers and above ground water sprays, all on a colourful soft fall area,” Cr Butler said.
“I’m sure that it will be extremely popular, especially among children, and will encourage more people to use the facility and to be more physically active as they enjoy everything that Pool in the Park now has to offer.”
The splash zone will complement the outdoor heated 50 metre pool, large learners’ pool, toddlers’ pool, giant waterslide, intermediate waterslide, barbecue facilities, shade structures and extensive lawn areas.
A new dedicated plant room, which houses the pumps and filters, was built to operate the water efficient Splash Zone which is the first of its kind in Casey, and one of only a few in Victoria.
New ramps have also been built into the learners’ pool and the front entrance of the facility making sure the whole complex is more accessible.
“I’m sure that the Pool in the Park Doveton will have a very busy summer as everyone discovers the spectacular new water playground,” he said.
