IT was an open-and-shut case this week when renowned true crime writer Vikki Petraitis visited a Hallam school.
Ms Petraitis spoke to Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) students and some English classes at Eumemmerring Secondary College’s Hallam campus on Monday.
She talked to students about how to set goals and achieve success as well and also shed some light on her fascinating career.
Students listening to the motivational speech also learned about various aspects of crime writing before taking part in some writing workshops.
Ms Petraitis has interviewed Australian police from forensics, fingerprints, criminal investigation and homicide units to write her series of crime stories.
She has spent hundreds of hours interviewing police and even accompanied officers on active duty to compile her collections of crime stories from behind the scenes.
Her most recent book ‘Forensics: True Stories from Australian Police Files’ was published this year.
She also wrote the best-selling book, The Frankston Murders, about serial killer Paul Denyer.
Ms Petraitis has also contributed to two episodes of the Channel Seven television series Sensing Murder.
