Lego Indiana Jones
Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3
4/5
ACTIVISION has whipped up a gem of a game with Lego Indiana Jones. This game plays similarly to the successful Lego Star Wars series but improves on several aspects, most notably the player’s level of interaction with the environment.
You can now collect, and use, weapons dropped by enemies, spanners to repair vehicles, torches to light the way or light bomb fuses, and pull all sorts of levers, ropes, and press buttons to trigger in-game events.
The game play revolves around yourself and a partner playing through levels based on scenes from the Indiana Jones original trilogy of films.
The partner can be computer controlled, or a second player, and together you will use your different attributes to progress through the level.
While there’s a lot of action, the game offers a large amount of puzzle solving, some which can become routine in the earlier levels.
Like Lego Star Wars, there is also the constant challenge of collecting Lego studs to unlock new items and special features.
The Lego theme, based on real Lego parts, means children can safely play the game.
But the layered humour, most notable in the game’s cutscenes, broadens the appeal to adults and hardened fans of Indiana Jones.
Best played with a friend, Lego Indiana Jones keeps the Lego series fresh while adding welcome features and preserving what made the Star Wars games so much fun.
