A EUMEMMERRING man has been charged with various drug offences following a raid at his Olive Road home last week.
Robert Neville, 33, briefly appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court last Thursday charged with possessing substances to manufacture drugs, attempting to traffic amphetamines, and possessing amphetamines and cannabis.
No application for bail was made and he was remanded to appear again on Thursday 19 October for a committal mention.
A 36-year-old woman who lived at the Eumemmerring address was expected to be charged by way of summons with trafficking a drug of dependence.
The pair were arrested last Wednesday after a clandestine laboratory was discovered in a rear shed on the property.
Police from the Dandenong Regional Response Unit executed a search warrant about 10.45am and members from the Major Drug Investigation Division helped dismantle the set up.
The Hallam CFA was also called out to support police.
Police initially requested the Brigade’s support because of the risk of a chemical explosion.
Hallam Fire Brigade operations officer Doug Broom said Fire Brigade members and police wore protective clothing and breathing apparatus due to the nature of the chemicals.
The brigade was on scene for two hours. An emergency decontamination unit was set up but not used.
