ENDEAVOUR Hills Police swapped their badges for burgers last Friday night when a special fundraising event was held at McDonald’s.
Police officers manned the drive-through of the Endeavour Hills store as part of a special one-hour fundraising event called the Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation Drive-Thru Challenge.
Their efforts helped raise funds for community projects in memory of police officers who died in the line of duty.
McDonald’s will donate $1 to the foundation from each car served. The proceeds will help fund emergency and trauma facilities in Victoria’s public hospitals.
Blue Ribbon Foundation chief executive Neil Soullier said the Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation Drive-Thru Challenge was one of its biggest fundraising projects.
Since 1993, the foundation has raised more than $4 million for community projects, which perpetuate the memory of police officers who have died in the line of duty.
The foundation organises Blue Ribbon Day, which will be held on Friday 29 September, and honours the 150 police officers who have been killed – 30 of them murdered – while serving the Victorian community.
