Falcon Jane flies to flag

Darebin may be across the other side of town, but its Victorian Women’s Football League (VWFL) team used a bit of local flavour to claim back-to-back flags at Preston’s NAB Oval on Sunday. Former Narre Warren resident Jane Lange, 23, took to the big stage and helped the undefeated Falcons to a 22-point victory over Melbourne University. Lange, third from left, joined Sarah Hammond, Anna Schwager and Tamara Walker in celebrating the triumph after the match. It has been a banner year for Lange in her first year in the VWFL, with the club premiership topping off her selection for the Victorian senior team in July. She joined the state team for the 2007 AFL Women’s National Championships in Canberra and enjoyed team and personal success as the Victorians trumped Western Australia by 51 points in the decider.Darebin may be across the other side of town, but its Victorian Women’s Football League (VWFL) team used a bit of local flavour to claim back-to-back flags at Preston’s NAB Oval on Sunday.
