CASEY is now offering residents free do-it-yourself graffiti removal kits as part of council’s graffiti management program.
Three different kits are available: the Safe Wipes Kit removes texta, crayon, biro and pencil from hard surfaces, the Removal Kit 1 removes graffiti from painted and sensitive surfaces and the Removal Kit 2 removes graffiti from masonry and bricks.
The kits are in addition to the council’s graffiti removal program, in which contractors remove graffiti from all council assets, and from all qualifying privately owned residential, commercial, retail and industrial properties at no cost to the property owner.
The Department of Justice has supported the council’s graffiti management program by providing funding of $25,000 to introduce this new aspect to the program.
The City of Casey was the first municipality in Australia to implement a local law to control graffiti and the sale of aerosol spray cans.
The graffiti removal kits are available from council’s customer service centres at Narre Warren, Narre Warren South and Cranbourne.
An application form needs to be completed and proof of occupancy provided such as a driver’s licence or a bill.
An evaluation form with a self-addressed envelope will be issued with each kit.
For details contact the council’s graffiti project officer on 9705 5200.
