TWO teenagers put their fire training to the test recently when they were on hand to help extinguish a blaze in Narre Warren.
Luke Hurd and Drue Davis saw the small fire outside the Windermere Child and Family Services office earlier this month.
The teenagers, who recently completed CFA training as part of their involvement in the Operation Newstart Casey program, saw the flames and rushed over to lend a hand.
They quickly put the fire, which had started from a cigarette bucket, out with the extinguishers.
Operation Newstart education coordinator James Seeary said the boys had undertaken the fire training two weeks earlier.
“The boys did such a great job that the local CFA had very little to do when they arrived and commended the boys for their efforts,” he said.
“Staff at Windermere have also sent the boys a letter of thanks in recognition of their efforts.”
