WOMEN have the chance to take up golf thanks to a free introductory day to be held at Cranbourne Golf Club next Saturday, 24 October.
The day has been organised by club professionals Mark Auhl and Christian Hamilton with the emphasis on a friendly, enjoyable time.
The day will run from 1.30pm to 5pm and cover all areas of the game from the grip, swing, driving, short game, chipping, putting and bunkers.
Mark said the aim was to introduce women to the game and if they liked it, they could attend special women’s clinics starting the following week.
“Women don’t have to be club members, just come at any time, as classes will be running all day,” he said.
Mark said more and more women were taking up golf and this was a great way to get started the right way.
“It’s also a chance to meet others who are beginning and this is a great help if anyone feels self conscious and has been put off from taking up the game in the past,’’ he said.
Christian said everyone would be made welcome, given plenty of help and encouragement and equipment would be supplied if necessary.
“I hope plenty come along as I know they will get a lot of enjoyment and fun,’’ he said.
Following the introductory day, those who want to take up golf can attend special 10-week clinics for women starting on Monday and Tuesday, 2 and 3 October at 9.30am, Friday, 6 October at 9.30am and Sunday, 8 October at 3.30pm.
Christian said the two-hour clinics covered every facet of the game and everyone would be given individual instruction, a free illustrated information book on golf and lots of encouragement.
“They are a great fun way to get into golf, gain valuable exercise and meet lots of new friends and enjoy the game together,” he said.
