CASEY is welcoming its first adult autism training centre in Narre Warren.
Alpha Autism is a government funded program that offers a specialist support service for people with autism aged 18 years and over.
The Webb Street centre will open its doors this month and is one of eight operating centres that run throughout Victoria.
Alpha Autism program manager Nicole James said the organisation decided to open in Narre Warren because of the lack of facilities targeting autism in Casey.
“The program will help our autism clients develop their communication and behaviour skills,” she said.
“The clients will get out into the community and go to the local shopping centres, parks and restaurants.”
The clients will take part in group sessions led by staff specialising in autism, to learn life skills such as cooking, gardening, art and music.
The structured day centre will be open Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm and offers full time or part time placement.
Alpha Autism is at 54 Webb Street in Narre Warren.
For further information contact Nicole James on 9558 7036 or Rob Miller on 9885 2777.
