Kid bowlers strike form

NARRE Warren mother Jackie Dall is looking to strike up a local sporting support group for children with special needs.
Ms Dall has organised a weekly tenpin bowling team for youngsters under the age of 12 who have a form of disability.
She moved to establish the group after discovering there were very few sporting options for her son Nicholas.
“I just found that there was nothing around for him to do with kids his own age who have similar needs,” Ms Dall said.
She said her eight-year-old son got a huge amount of enjoyment from tenpin bowling and the staff at Narre Warren Super Bowl had gone out of their way to help establish the group.
“They have been really keen in helping us start it up. They actually have a bowling team there on Saturday afternoons for adults with a disability,” Ms Dall said.
A handful of youngsters have come together for the first couple of events but Ms Dall is hoping publicity about the group will encourage more to attend.
She encouraged people from all over the City of Casey to come along.
“We actually started two weeks ago and only five or six turned up.
“The bowling can give the kids something to look forward to on the weekend and the centre organises it really well. They all get a little trophy at the end of season.”
Ms Dall said another bonus of the group was the support and advice parents could gather from each other.
“That is also another positive that we can get out of it.”
The special needs bowling group will break for the school holidays but will resume on Saturday 13 October.
Narre Warren Super Bowl is at 14 Lauderdale Road, Narre Warren.
