YEAR eight students at Gleneagles Campus of Eumemmerring College returned to medieval times last week when the Living History Australia company visited the school.
Students dressed in medieval costumes as bishops, pilgrims, warriors and knights and took part in games and sports such as long bows, tugofwar and folk and noble dances.
The activities supported a module on castles and knights that students were completing as part of their year eight SOSE (Study of Society and Environment) studies.
The Living History Australia company provided students with a variety of activities during three different sessions and nine different characters dressed in medieval costumes and performed their traditional medieval roles.
The play highlighted the key values of democratic process, social justice, ecological and economic sustainability and peace.
Students also learnt about the various armour and costumes worn centuries ago and were encouraged to ask questions about medieval life.
