LA TROBE MP Jason Wood said Liberal Government would provide $2 million toward building a sporting stadium at Timbarra.
The Federal Minister for Education, Science and Training Julie Bishop came to Berwick last week to make the announcement at the Timbarra Secondary College site.
Mr Wood said he had been working with residents and has discussed the issue with the State Government.
He said he was concerned that the State Government had not started work on the promised secondary college for Timbarra.
“The City of Casey will receive a $2 million Federal grant towards the proposal under a re-elected Liberal Government.”
He commended the efforts of residents in their battle to get the sports stadium.
“It is because of the persistence and dedication of these supporters that this commitment has been made.
“I look forward to working with the community to continue delivery services and infrastructure needed for this fast growing area.
“It is because of the Federal Government’s strong economic management that commitments like the Timbarra Community Stadium can be made, Mr Wood said.
