FOUNTAIN Gate Primary School students have been busy recently, with victory for the soccer team at the District Lightning Premiership, as well as holding a student and staff pyjama day.
The Fountain Gate Primary School soccer team narrowly defeated Mary MacKillop Primary School at the District Lightning Premiership last week.
After six challenging games in the cold and wet weather, Fountain Gate won the final after extra time and a penalty shoot-out. The team was led by goalkeeper Dominic Kurasik, who represented Victoria as a goalkeeper in indoor soccer last year and plays for South Melbourne.
The boys’ next challenge will be at the Zone Soccer Championships next term.
As well supporting the winning soccer team, the school was busy with a pyjama day as part of the focus on reading and literacy.
Students and staff alike left their regular school uniforms at home last month, heading to school in pyjamas instead.
The pyjama day was to celebrate the Premier’s Reading Challenge and encourage the children to read at school as well as home.
