Matt Cormick gets Gold Tricks home in Wednesday night’s Seelite Windows and Doors Claiming Pace at Cranbourne.Matt Cormick gets Gold Tricks home in Wednesday night’s Seelite Windows and Doors Claiming Pace at Cranbourne.

LOCALLY trained horses came to the fore at last Wednesday night’s Cranbourne Harness Racing Club meeting.
Early in the evening, four-year-old mare Coppers Nark produced a slick 1:58.0 mile rate to down odds-on favourite Talkeetna for local trainer-driver combination Bill Kucks and Phil Percy.
Despite having been racing without a great deal of luck of late, Coppers Nark was friendless in the betting, but prevailed in impressive fashion after being well-rated in front by Percy.
Rejuvenated six-year-old Gold Tricks scored an upset victory in the Seelite Windows and Doors Claiming Pace.
A recent addition to the Longwarry stables of trainer Lee Evison, Gold Tricks moved quickly into the race from the 600-metre mark and fought off a late challenge from odds-on favourite Karloo Toogie to score narrowly.
Completing the good night for the locals was Rose Danjou, who provided Cranbourne trainer and local veterinarian Hugh Cathels with a win in the final heat of the Warehouse Sales Encouragement Pace.
Harness racing returns to Cranbourne on Saturday night.
Racegoers at this weekend’s meeting will have the chance to win a $500 retail voucher from Warehouse Sales in Dandenong, who are the sponsors of the Warehouse Sales Encouragement Pace Final.
On Thursday, 14 February, the club is inviting couples to enjoy a ‘Valentine’s night with a difference’.
Those who book early have an opportunity to secure naming rights to a race on the eight-event program.
For bookings contact the club on 5996 8677.
