PRIME Minister Kevin Rudd rubbed shoulders with some of the City of Casey’s finest young leaders last week.
The 10 local students, recipients of Casey’s Australia Day Study Tour Award, met the Prime Minister during their visit to Parliament House in Canberra.
The local students took the opportunity to meet and question the Prime Minister on a range of issues including education and parliamentary procedures.
Local Federal MPs Anthony Byrne, Jason Wood and Greg Hunt accompanied the students on various sections of the tour.
Mr Byrne said the PM was pleased to talk with the Casey students and hear about the issues that mattered to them.
“It was great to sit down with these intelligent, vibrant young people who come from schools around my electorate and to be able to share my experiences of life as a politician,” Mr Byrne said.
“They are great ambassadors for the City of Casey and the electorate of Holt,” he said.
The tour is awarded to 10 young people from the City of Casey each year.
Recipients are nominated by schools and employers and then selected through an interview process.
During the year students will also visit a City of Casey Council meeting and State Parliament to learn about the role the various levels of government play.
The award recipients were:
Hayden Ostrom-Brown (St Francis Xavier College);
Kate Miles (Eumemmerring College – Fountain Gate Campus);
Natalie Heynsbergh (Eumemmerring College – Endeavour Hills Campus);
Sam Cronjaeger (St. Peters College);

Jade Wylie (St Francis Xavier College);
