IT was celebrations all round as Hallam’s Red Cross charity celebrated its 29th birthday.
The birthday event, held recently at the Kays Avenue community hall, attracted about 40 guests, including City of Casey mayor Janet Halsall and Red Cross Victoria volunteer Helen Haye.
Cr Halsall presented Red Cross volunteer Jean Read with a 10-year service medal.
Secretary Betty Keen said her volunteering duties over the past eight years had turned into a profession.
She said the charity was always looking for young volunteers.
The Hallam Red Cross holds a stall in Doveton twice a year, selling cakes, jams and craft items.
“The stalls are always very busy and in May we raised $600,” she said.
“The community really supports us and continually donates.”
