MORE than 40 Hampton Park Bowls Club members and wives were at Clayton Bowls Club to see their team down Keysborough in a nailbiting division-seven final on Saturday.
Keysborough got off to a flying start on three rinks, but one Parkers team was keeping the score tight.
At the tea break just two shots separated the two sides.
The second half saw the scoreboard seesaw backwards and forward.
With three rinks finished and one end to play on the fourth rink, Hampton Park needed four shots to draw and five shots to win.
With one bowl to come with the Parkers holding four shots, their skip needed to put that last bowl into the count for a win, which he did – for five shots.
Ray Wood, Alan Wilcock, Allan March and skip Bill Webb dropped two fives early and did extremely well to force a draw (21-21).
Ray Leggett, Mark Paton, Keith Damon and skip Bob Nicol kept a tight rein on the game, fading on the last few ends (19-31).
The team of Bob Meany, Greg Pentland, Bernie Bruggeman and skip Andrew Brandolin held the balance of power with their 16 shot win (35-19).
Gerry Cox, Fred McBrian, Paul Barna and skip Rob Woff had to make up 10 shots in the second half, falling just three shots short (18-21).
Hampton Park 93 d Keysborough 92.
