A FREE child restraint checking and number-plate fixing day will be held in Casey this Sunday, 8 October.
From 10am to 3pm parents have been urged to bring the car, child seats and their children along to Fountain Gate Shopping Centre and receive a free professional safety check by a Littles Child Restraint representative.
Residents can also come down to the shopping centre at the same time and help prevent the chance of their car’s licence plates being stolen by ensuring the plates are fitted with anti-theft security screws.
The City of Casey in partnership with Victoria Police will be securing licence plates for free from 10am to 3pm and the event is open to all car owners.
Both services will be located in the Westfield Fountain Gate Shopping Centre car park, Narre Warren, next to Wash‘n’Shop.
Casey acting manager community safety, Caroline Bell said it was easy to have a child restraint professionally checked and fitted and it would help keep the child as safe as possible when travelling in the car.
“The City of Casey has been involved in a number of these free restraint fitting days and they continue to be very popular with parents, grandparents and carers keen to put safety first,” Ms Bell said.
The event is supported by the City of Casey, SafeStart, Victoria Police, Neighbourhood Watch and Westfield.
Ms Bell said stolen plates could be used for a range of traffic offences and could cause considerable inconvenience.
“The risk of licence plate theft is greatly reduced when licence plates are fitted with the anti-theft screws and I strongly encourage people to take part in this free service.”
This event is supported by the City of Casey, Neighbourhood Watch, Westfield, Victoria Police and the State Emergency Service. There will be another free licence plate check from 10am-3pm on Sunday, 15 October at Endeavour Hills Shopping Centre in the level two car park opposite the car wash.
