MORE than 200 women packed into the Cranbourne Golf Club last Friday for the first ever MPNFL Celebrating Women in Sport luncheon.
The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) was the official partner of the event, which was designed to coincide with the Women in Sport round of local football and netball.
Female club stalwarts rubbed shoulders with women presidents and secretaries throughout the day, with some of the most deserving women in local sport honoured throughout the lunch.
Each MPNFL club was given two complimentary tickets to give to their most deserving women volunteers.
Special guests included Collingwood board member Sally Capp, Netball Australia CEO Kate Palmer and Nanette Malthouse.
Australian netballer Bianca Chatfield, Richmond footballer Greg Tivendale and former St Kilda star Aussie Jones also had the privilege of being auctioned off to the highest bidder.
Tivendale was snapped up by a table of women representing a local adult sex store and Jones went to a table made up of mainly Narre Warren women.
A mixed table of Devon Meadows, Doveton, Narre Warren and Hampton Park football and netball representatives paid more than $200 for Star News Group journalist Callan Date. The day raised more than $3000 for the NBCF.
