THE Berwick Youth Choir (BYC) continues to sing up a storm.
Senior members of the choir recently sang the National Anthem at the Sandown 400 V8 Supercar race.
More than 400 local students also took part in Hear the Children Sing – a Choral Festival hosted by BYC and supported by the City of Casey.
Participating schools, along with the BYC, were St Paul Apostle North and St Paul Apostle South and Berwick, Cranbourne West, Maranatha, James Cook and Hillsmeade primary schools.
BYC official Margaret Murray said the event was a massive success.
“Each school sang, and sometimes danced, two or three pieces and the concert culminated in a grand finale where all the children joined in three massed items,” she said.
“It was wonderful to see so many children having fun and enjoying themselves through music.
“An event like this promotes the importance of music education for all children, enabling them to express themselves through music, and benefit from the skills and learning enhancement it provides.”
Anyone interested in joining the BYC, which practises at ICA Casey College in Narre Warren South every Monday afternoon, can visit www.berwickyouthchoir.com.au.
