STUDENTS at a Narre Warren primary school are certainly thinking about having a long and healthy life following the launch of a new healthy lifestyle program.
Maramba Primary School this week launched the Go for Your Life program at its school.
The State Government initiative aims to increase levels of physical activity and healthy eating and promote a stronger sense of community.
Assistant principal Sue Peterken said students had enjoyed many fun activities during the week, including games of golf, cricket, line dancing, volleyball, skipping and softball.
Students had also been busy running around the school oval as part of a Run Around Australia activity.
Ms Peterken said teachers kept track of how many kilometres each student travelled to see how far the school could have travelled around the country.
Ms Peterken said students also enjoyed lots of healthy snacks during the week long celebrations and Casey deputy mayor Rob Wilson and a City of Casey representative had visited the school to view its healthy habits.
“We really value healthy eating and exercise,” Ms Peterken said.
The school already had healthy food and water breaks and heavily promotes the benefits of walking through Maramba’s Walking School Bus.
