THEY say diamonds are a girl’s best friend and Valentine’s Day has resulted in numerous inquiries about the precious stones to local jewellers.
Staff at Bevilles Jewellers at Fountain Gate said the lead-up to 14 February was always a busy time.
Employee Laura Thomson said she had sold several engagement rings – leading her to believe that a few local residents may pop the question on the day of love.
Love will also be in the air tonight at Berwick’s Wilson Botanic Park as couples gather for the 10th Valentine’s Day Picnic at the park.
Mood music will be provided by the Anita Harris Quartet, returning for the fourth consecutive year, and ‘a capella’ vocalist Tony Hoseman.
Visitors can either pack their own picnic or order a hamper for the evening.
The Friends of Wilson Botanic Park organise the event each year.
