HAMPTON Park Bowls Club is very proud of Andrew Brandolin, a wheel-chair bowler, on being selected to play for Australia.
Andrew will be a member of two teams of five to play in South Australia in the Wheel-chair Tri-nation games against Korea and New Zealand.
The club has thrown its support behind Andrew to raise funds to assist with out-of-pocket expenses.
A two bowls triples game will be held on Saturday, 12 August and a snacks and games night on 19 August with all money raised going to Andrew.
Being in a wheelchair has never been a handicap for Andrew who strives to be the best he can and with his happy, easy-going disposition, has made a lot of friends in his five years at the club.
His love of sport saw him play wheelchair rugby for 12 years and archery for four years. In his spare time he flies remote-controlled model planes.
In his first year of bowls he won the Victorian Wheelchair Lawn Bowls Singles and Pairs Championship, B-grade (first-year bowlers), at Hurstbridge Bowls Club.
In 2003 at Lemon Tree Passage Bowls Club, Andrew finished second in the NSW Wheelchair Sports State Championships.
In 2003 and 2004 he finished fourth in the Victorian State Wheelchair Championship.
Andrews’s most pleasing achievement was finishing sixth in the Victorian (Multi-disability) State Championship held at Darebin.
The club hopes Andrew and the rest of the Australian team, will be successful in the tri-nation series.
