JANELLE Kremer is angry.
The Narre Warren mother had her purse stolen while shopping at a Fountain Gate supermarket recently and has been left to pick up the pieces from the brazen crime.
Although the low-life thief only got away with little more than $5 cash, Ms Kremer has spent hours cancelling her banking and personal cards.
The crime, which occurred in the Coles Supermarket, took pace in a matter of seconds.
“I was shopping with my two-year-old and my purse was in the nappy bag hanging over the handle of the trolley,” Ms Kremer said.
“The bag was zipped up to begin with, then along the way my daughter wanted her snack and becoming more independent she gets it out herself.”
The purse was stolen soon afterwards.
Ms Kremer hopes her story will make shoppers that extra bit vigilant and aware that cunning criminals are operating in the area.
“I have learnt I’m not as safe as I thought in my community. There are individuals who will invade my space and my belongings.”
A friend was able to help her out on the day and pay for her groceries. Supermarket employees were also more than friendly, she said.
“While this turned me upside down at the time there is nothing I can’t fix. I will keep shopping and going out. (It has) taught me the biggest lesson.”
Ms Kremer has already spent more than four hours calling and visiting various businesses and organisations which she has ties with.
She expects the inconvenience to last several weeks while replacement cards are issued and sent out to her.
The theft of personal photos has also left Ms Kremer frustrated and hoping some bad luck will befall the thief.
