Police praise spiritless finals

NARRE Warren Police has praised crowd behaviour at last Sunday’s MPNFL finals at Berwick.
About 1000 people attended the Casey-Cardinia qualifying final day at Edwin Flack Reserve.
Football fans were barred from drinking alcohol in the outer owing to refusal of a liquor licence application.
Casey Inspector Maurice Lynn said there were no arrests or penalty notices issued.
A spokeswoman for liquor licensing said an application to sell alcohol at the remaining finals events at Berwick was still to be considered.
“The club has yet to respond to issues raised by police while council has yet to respond to the matter,” she said.
This Sunday’s senior second semi-final match will involve Pakenham and Narre Warren.
Edwin Flack will also host the preliminary final on 7 September and the league’s showcase Grand Final event on 13 September.
