A DECISION on Greg Hutchison’s coaching future at the Casey Scorpions is imminent.
Werribee bundled the Scorpions out of the finals on Sunday to officially end the St Kilda era at Casey.
The Saints will join forces with rival VFL club Sandringham from next season.
But Hutchison’s role at St Kilda is in doubt after Sandringham re-signed Andy Lovell as head coach last week.
Hutchison signed a two-year contract with the Saints in November last year as an assistant/development coach.
That role included the head coaching position at the Scorpions and he led the VFL club to its first finals win in seven years.
“Obviously I’m not going to coach Sandringham, so I’ll just sit down with (Casey president) John Sharkie and work out what I do from here on in,” Hutchison said after Sunday’s match.
“I’ve got an arrangement that I need to talk to Casey and St Kilda about and, until that happens, we don’t really know what I’m doing.”
Scorpions’ management are keen to retain Hutchison’s services.
Melbourne and Casey are expected to announce a new AFL-VFL deal in the near future.
Hutchison played 96 games and kicked 21 goals for Melbourne from 1975-84, and also had a 13-game stint as caretaker coach of the AFL club in 1997 after Neil Balme was sacked.
