Finger lost in machete attack

A MAN had his finger cut off in a machete attack in Doveton last week.
Police said two Endeavour Hills men had been drinking at an address in Noble Park and were later driving along Myrtle Street in Doveton before 2am on Saturday 20 September when a group of men they knew approached them.
An altercation followed and the group smashed the windows of the pair’s car before one of the men in the group pulled out a machete and struck out, slicing off a finger of one of the Endeavour Hills men and leaving him with a gash in his leg.
The pair ran about 300 metres around the corner to Paperbark Street where they knocked on the door of a house asking for help.
Police were called and by the time they arrived on the scene the group had fled.
The 38-year-old man was taken to Dandenong Hospital while his 25-year-old friend, who escaped injury, was helping police with their investigation. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit www.crimestoppers.com.au.
