MUSIC lovers are being encouraged to get along to the Balla Balla Morning Melodies program.
The Balla Balla Morning Melodies program, held at the Balla Balla Centre in Cranbourne, is held once a month and provides an opportunity for Casey’s older residents to enjoy low-cost entertainment and freshly-baked scones with a cup of tea among friends.
City of Casey mayor Janet Halsall said: “Balla Balla Morning Melodies is about older residents getting together in a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy some easy-listening music and catch up with friends.”
“Council is committed to promoting a healthy lifestyle for older residents, which includes maintaining social connectedness and remaining active in the local community,” she said.
The entertainment varies from month to month and has included Cranbourne West Primary School Choir, The Golden Banjos and The Hatman on previous occasions.
“The Morning Melodies program is one way our older residents can stimulate the mind and make new friends to ensure they continue to age positively,” Cr Halsall said.
There are two more Morning Melodies events for 2008:
Tuesday 11 November – Jim Clements; and Tuesday 2 December – Morning Melodies Christmas Party and Sing-along.
Each Balla Balla Morning Melody event costs $5, which includes a scone with jam and cream as well as a cup of tea, and runs from 10.30am to 12pm.
Bookings are essential.
