Take two for season opener

THE Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association’s executive committee members cancelled last Saturday’s season opening round after a large number of grounds were unavailable.
All matches will be played as one-dayers this weekend instead of the initially scheduled two-day fixtures.
Endeavour Hills, which competes in the South/East Group, takes on Ormond in its season opener at E.E. Gunn Reserve on Saturday.
The club’s home ground, Sydney Pargeter Reserve, is unavailable in October due to its poor condition.
The ground was sprigged yesterday (Wednesday) and Hills captain Vaughan Baxter expects it to be ready for the club’s one-day clash with Oakleigh on 1 November.
Endeavour Hills faces a huge challenge this summer after losing nine first XI players over the off-season.
