FIREFIGHTERS have saved a Berwick house from major damage.
Narre Warren and Berwick CFA units responded to the blaze at Nightingale Crescent on 2 October. Berwick CFA captain Alan Boyd said as crews arrived they were confronted by a fire in the rear courtyard and entertainment area. A room at the rear of the house had also ignited.
“Strong winds fanned the blaze and made conditions very difficult for the firefighters,” Capt Boyd said.
Capt Boyd said early estimates put the damage bill at about $80,000.
