A BERWICK couple has just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Ben and Kerry Jansen marked their golden wedding anniversary with a special dinner for family and friends on 12 October.
Mr Jansen, 78, said the milestone celebration was the start of the next 50 years of their life together.
The couple met back in 1953 while both working on farms in Wodonga. They were married at a Noble Park church.
They have been living in the City of Casey for more than 40 years and have three children, Robert, Michael and Jamie.
Mr and Mrs Jansen, who are members of the Narre Warren Senior Citizens Club, say they enjoy the weekly entertainment and trips the club has on offer.
Mr Jansen said the key to a successful marriage was to look after each other.
“Kerry is my best friend and we’re still as close as we were when we first met,” he said.
These days the happy couple enjoy going out for lunch and dinner dates and spending time with their two grand children, six-year-old Charlie and William, 3.
