ATHLETES from an Endeavour Hills school have received Edwin Flack Medals to mark their sporting achievements.
James Cook Primary School students Mustafa Housaini and Amira Elhassan received their medals from City of Casey mayor Janet Halsall.
Berwick farmer Edwin Flack was Australia’s first Olympic champion, winning the 800m and 1500m athletic events in Athens in 1896.
The Edwin Flack medals are given to students who not only excel in sport, but also stand out for their sportsmanship and leadership. James Cook Primary School principal Kathy Sharp said both Mustafa and Amira were stand-out sport performers this year.
“The school is proud that our students are shining academically and in the sporting arena,” she said.
