Water savings in Casey

THE City of Casey has won a water conservation award for two leisure and recreation facilities: Cranbourne Aquatic and Leisure Centre (CALC) and Casey Fields.
The award, from Parks and Leisure Australia, is for excellence in the category of water conservation and management.
The $37 million CALC, which is due to open next year, was designed to save about 26 million litres of drinking water each year through measures such as backwash water re-use, efficient water filtration systems, and water-saving showers.
At Casey Fields, surface water run-off is captured and treated on site, while class-A recycled water is pumped from the Eastern Treatment Plant for irrigation.
“We are extremely proud to be leading the way in this area, and to have received this award that formally recognises the excellent work done to create these outstanding, water-smart facilities,” mayor Janet Halsall said.
