Bell blooms beyond

ONCE a month, for 34 years, garden-savvy locals have united in Berwick to discuss their gardening knowledge, share helpful hints, and display their plants and cuttings.
The Berwick and District Garden Club gives local families and individuals an opportunity to meet other people with a common interest and learn from their gardening experiences.
“It’s great for people who have an interest in gardening,” secretary Julie Treller said. “Members learn a lot from it, and also enjoy the social aspect of the club.”
At the most recent annual meeting, awards were presented to the late Ron Bell, who bred roses at his home in Harkaway from 1973. His work can be seen at the Berwick rose garden and Wilson Botanic Park rose garden. Julie Treller won the Frank Jacobsen Memorial Medal for overall aggregate score, and Nola Stebbing and Erica McMinn were presented with life memberships.
Ms Treller says she invites everyone with an interest in gardening to join The Berwick & District Garden Club. Members meet every third Tuesday of the month excluding July and December.
