CASEY police’s new inspector wants to reduce the rate of serious injuries and road fatalities in the City of Casey.
Inspector Andrew Miles, who has been in the job for three weeks, has 22 years’ experience with Victoria Police and is responsible for the management of Endeavour Hills, Narre Warren and Cranbourne police stations.
“Police will be stepping up patrols to detect drivers exceeding the speed limit,” Insp Miles said.
“Random breath testing operations will also be conducted in the coming months.”
Insp Miles said police were also focusing on the large amount of theft from motor vehicles.
“This issue continues to increase and will be a focus for the uniform police and Casey Criminal Investigation Unit at both Narre Warren and Cranbourne police stations,” he said.
Shopping centre and railway station car parks were the hot spots for thieves in Casey, Insp Miles said.
As Casey was one of the fastest growing municipalities in the state, with a significant youth population, police would be increasing their youth focus, he said.
“Initiatives, such as full time resource officers, alcohol diversion programs and a graffiti education program, are helping build strong relationships between the youths and police,” Insp Miles said.
