Bonding men are on the move

MEN’S Group, the highest scoring Australian movie at Sydney’s film festival, will be featured at a special screening for Casey-Cardinia residents at Monash University, Berwick, on 5 December.
Viewers will have a chance to meet the actors of the film that picked up three IF awards including Best Film, Best Script, and Best Actor. It also featured on the ABC Movie Show with Margaret and David scoring four and three and a half stars.
Directed by Michael Joy and produced by John L Simpson, Men’s Group tells the story of six very different men who meet once a week to talk about life and discover they have a common bond.
The producer said it was crucial that the performances were realistic. To achieve this, the actors were not allowed to see the script, instead, Simpson sent 45 minutes briefing each actor prior to shooting on what they could reveal in each session. “Everything that you see in the film is the first and only take. The performances are nothing short of extraordinary.”
Tickets for the screening are $10. They are available on the night or can be pre-purchased at YMCA, Cardinia Life Pakenham, YMCA Casey Arc Narre Warren, Dive and Dive inside JV Marine World, and Pakenham Newsagency.
Doors open at 6.30pm, the program begins at 7pm and movie screens at 7.30pm.
