STATE Emergency Service crews had a hectic weekend as heavy rain and strong winds swept through the state.
Narre Warren SES responded to 12 calls at the weekend.
A tree landed on a Narre Warren woman’s car in Emerald on Saturday.
Constable Craig Harvey of Emerald police said the 86-year-old woman was driving along Beaconsfield Emerald Road at about 1pm when the incident occurred. He said she was shaken but not injured.
An SES spokesman said the Narre Warren unit was “fairly quiet” in comparison with the other areas of the state, such as Gippsland.
He said most of the calls for help were on Saturday, and jobs included clearing traffic hazards and trees that were down.
People needing the assistance of SES volunteers should call VICSES flood and storm response emergency on 132 500.
