
HEAVY rain ruined cricket across the state on Saturday – but it was not all bad news for the local clubs.
Struggling Victorian Premier Cricket side Casey-South Melbourne faced certain defeat against Richmond at Punt Road before the weather allowed it to escape with a draw.
The Swans will chase their first triumph of the season when they lock horns with Footscray-Edgewater in a two-dayer at Casey Fields from 11am on Saturday.
They also played Frankston Peninsula in their first Twenty20 clash of the season at the same venue last night.
Scores were not available when the News went to press.
The coloured gear will be on show in the Victorian Sub-District Association on Saturday after no play was possible in that competition on the weekend.
Endeavour Hills was to have competed on day one of its fixture against defending champion Box Hill at Box Hill City Oval.
Instead the two clubs will face off in a 40-over-a-side battle at the ground from 12.30pm this Saturday.
There was some action on the second day of round four in the Dandenong District Cricket Association on the weekend. St Mary’s and Springvale South were the only turf-one teams to record victories, while HSD and Maranatha Methodist were the turf-two winners.
